Paper
Biodegradable, versatile, plastic-minimised — the material that completes the packaging system
Paper is where presentation meets protection. Beyond the primary glass or ceramic container, paper carries your brand through the secondary packaging your customer unboxes and the shipping layer that keeps fragile products intact in transit — all without a single-use plastic footprint. From structural honeycomb mailers engineered on the same principle used in aerospace, to folding cartons and rigid gift boxes finished to your brand specification, paper is the connective layer of a complete plastic-minimised system.

Typical Applications
· Paper labels
· Folding cartons and retail-ready boxe
· Rigid gift boxes and presentation packaging
· Custom labels and printed inserts
· Honeycomb mailers for e-commerce shipping
· Honeycomb protective wraps
· Corrugated outer cartons
key properties
· Fully biodegradable and recyclable at kerbside
· Replaces bubble wrap and plastic void fill entirely
· Structural strength-to-weight from honeycomb engineering
· Full print, branding, and finishing capability
· FSC-sourced options available
· Lightweight — reduces shipping footprint and cost
Available as folding cartons, rigid boxes, or engineered honeycomb structures, specified to coordinate with your glass or ceramic primary packaging in material, brand, and format. Whether you need retail-ready secondary packaging or plastic-free transit protection for fragile products, paper closes out the system.
Share your packaging brief and we will recommend the right paper format and specification for your project.
COMPLETE SYSTEMS
Primary, secondary, and shipping — coordinated
The most effective packaging is designed as a complete system — primary packaging (the container), secondary packaging (the box or wrapper), and shipping protection (the outer carton or mailer), all coordinated in material, brand, and specification. We manage all three layers under one brief.
01 Primary packaging — the container
The glass or ceramic vessel that holds your product. Custom shape or existing form, decorated and finished to your brand specification. This is the layer the end consumer touches, sees, and keeps.
· Glass bottles & jars
· Ceramic jars & vessels
· Custom closures
· Custom shapes available
02 Secondary packaging — the presentation layer
The box, carton, or gift packaging that presents your product at retail or in gifting contexts. Branded, structured, and designed to express your product’s value before it is opened.
· Folding cartons
· Rigid gift boxes
· Custom labels
· Retail-ready formats
03 Shipping protection — plastic-minimised transit packaging
Honeycomb mailers, corrugated outer cartons, and paper-based protective wraps that replace bubble wrap and plastic void fill entirely. Protects fragile glass and ceramic in transit without compromise.
· Honeycomb mailers
· Honeycomb wraps
· Corrugated outer cartons
· Plastic-minimised as possible
INDUSTRIES SERVED
Packaging by sector
Our packaging solutions are specified across multiple consumer and industrial sectors. Each sector has distinct regulatory, aesthetic, and functional requirements — we advise the most suitable material and format per application.
Cosmetics & skincare
Serum bottles, treatment jars, pump dispensers, and presentation cartons — designed for shelf presence and formula integrity.
Perfume & fragrance
Custom flacons, diffuser vessels, and candle jars — where the container is as important as the product inside.
Home fragrance
Reed diffuser vessels, room spray bottles, candle containers, and coordinated secondary packaging for lifestyle brands.
Food & beverage
Food-contact compliant glass and ceramic packaging — olive oil, vinegar, specialty foods, artisan beverages, and premium condiments.
Luxury & gifting
Premium packaging systems for corporate gifting, limited editions, and high-value retail — where unboxing experience is part of the product.
E-commerce & DTC
Plastic-free shipping systems protecting fragile glass and ceramic through direct-to-consumer supply chains — honeycomb mailers and custom outer cartons.
SUSTAINABILITY
Plastic-minimised packaging systems
Every material we work with — glass, ceramic, and paper — is inherently plastic-free at its core. These are not modern sustainable alternatives; they are the original materials, predating plastic entirely. We design packaging systems that minimise plastic use across every layer — primary container, secondary presentation, and shipping protection — wherever a suitable material alternative exists.

Infinitely recyclable glass
Glass can be recycled indefinitely without degradation in quality — the only primary packaging material for which this is true.

Natural ceramic bodies
Earthenware, stoneware, and porcelain are derived entirely from natural clay minerals — no synthetic additives, fully biodegradable at end of life.
Biodegradable paper systems
Honeycomb mailers and corrugated cartons replace bubble wrap and polystyrene entirely — 100% biodegradable and recyclable at kerbside.

Plastic minimised at every layer
Primary containers, secondary presentation, and shipping protection are designed to reduce plastic use as much as possible, prioritising glass, ceramic, and paper across the full packaging system.

EU packaging compliance
Our solutions are aligned with evolving EU packaging and packaging waste regulations — relevant for brands selling into European markets.

Made to order — zero waste
No stock, no overproduction. Every unit produced is produced for your order — eliminating warehouse waste at the source.
Frequently Asked
Buying questions
Which material is right for my packaging project?
Material selection depends on your product type, brand positioning, target retail price, and sustainability requirements. Glass is the benchmark for fragrance, cosmetics, and premium food and beverage — offering formula inertness, recyclability, and a premium tactile quality. Ceramic suits brands seeking a more artisanal, distinctive material signal — particularly in home fragrance and cosmetic packaging. Paper completes the system at the secondary and shipping layer. We advise the most suitable combination once we understand your product and market. Share your brief and we will recommend accordingly.
Can I develop a completely unique packaging shape?
Yes — for both glass and ceramic primary packaging. A completely unique shape requires new mold development, which is managed through our glass or ceramic custom manufacturing process. The mold development, prototype validation, and series production are handled as a single project. Full details of the development process are available on our glass and ceramic manufacturing pages.
What is a honeycomb mailer and why use it?
A honeycomb mailer is a shipping envelope lined with a honeycomb paper structure — the same geometric principle used in aerospace engineering for maximum strength at minimum weight. It replaces bubble wrap and polystyrene entirely, offering equivalent or superior impact protection while being 100% biodegradable and recyclable. For brands shipping fragile glass or ceramic products direct to consumer, it is the most practical and credible plastic-minimised solution available.
Can you coordinate all three packaging layers — container, box, and shipping — in one project?
Yes — and this is one of the specific advantages of working with Coolocca. Rather than sourcing primary, secondary, and shipping packaging from three separate suppliers, we coordinate the full system under one brief, one project manager, and one delivery schedule. This eliminates the coordination overhead and ensures material, format, and brand consistency across all layers.
Do your packaging solutions meet EU sustainability regulations?
Our glass, ceramic, and paper packaging systems are inherently plastic-free and aligned with the direction of EU packaging and packaging waste regulations, which increasingly restrict single-use plastics and mandate recyclability. For specific regulatory requirements relevant to your product category or market, we recommend consulting your regulatory advisor — we can provide material data sheets and relevant certifications to support your compliance review.
What information is needed to start a packaging project?
The most useful starting information is: product type and application, required capacity or dimensions, target quantity, preferred material (or open to recommendation), decoration and branding requirements, and any sustainability or regulatory constraints. A rough volume indication is sufficient to begin — we will ask the right questions from there and advise the most suitable material and format combination for your project.
